Crop Image Online
Crop photos directly in your browser. Move and resize the crop box, choose a preset aspect ratio, rotate or flip, and download JPG, PNG or WebP. Create circular transparent PNG crops for avatars.
Your image is never uploaded. Exporting re-encodes pixels and generally omits source metadata. JPEG does not support transparency; circle crops always export as transparent PNG.
How to crop an image
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Drag inside the crop rectangle to reposition it, or drag a corner to change its size.
- Choose Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or 3:2, then optionally rotate, flip or select circle crop.
- Click Crop image and download the resulting file.
Common crop aspect ratios
1:1 creates square images for avatars and thumbnails. 4:3 suits many standard photographs. 16:9 is widely used for video thumbnails and landscape banners. 3:2 matches many camera photo proportions. Use Free to select any rectangle.
Circle crop with a transparent background
Circle crop masks the corners outside an ellipse and exports a PNG with transparent pixels. To create a perfect circle, select the 1:1 aspect ratio before enabling circle crop. JPEG cannot preserve transparency.
Crop vs. resize
Cropping removes pixels outside a selected region; resizing changes the output pixel dimensions. This cropper preserves the selected region's pixel resolution rather than enlarging it. Use ImgPocket's resizing tools if a form requires exact final dimensions.
Privacy and image quality
Your image is decoded, edited and exported locally without being uploaded. Re-encoding may change file size, colour or compression quality and can remove source metadata. Preview important results before using them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I crop an image on my phone?
Yes. The crop box supports touch and mouse pointer input in modern browsers.
Does cropping lower quality?
The tool does not enlarge the selected area, but JPG and WebP exports can introduce compression changes. PNG is generally preferable for lossless pixel export.
Can I crop without creating an account?
Yes. The tool is free and requires no account.
