Passport & ID Photo Resizer
Crop and resize a photo to the pixel dimensions you need, without uploading it to a server. Choose a generic preset or enter custom dimensions, adjust framing, and download a JPG or PNG.
Important: Country presets are based on the linked authority guidance, but do not establish that an exported photo will be accepted. This tool does not verify head size, background, pose, print DPI or acceptance by any government agency. Always check the current requirements of the issuing authority.
How to resize a passport-style or ID photo
- Check the issuing authority's official photo requirements before starting.
- Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP photo.
- Enter the required pixel width and height. Generic presets are for convenience only.
- Adjust zoom and positioning to crop your photo without stretching it.
- Choose JPG or PNG and, if using JPG, optionally set a maximum file size in KB.
- Download the result and verify its dimensions and appearance against the official rules.
Country-specific passport photo sizes
Select a country and document type above to populate the dimensions. Current sourced options cover the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India (Toronto consulate), the Netherlands, Japan and Australia. Printed-size presets use approximate 300 PPI pixel equivalents for editing; those pixels are not official requirements. Always follow the linked authority instructions, including any restrictions on digital alteration.
Pixel dimensions versus physical photo size
Pixels describe a digital image. Printed dimensions in millimetres or inches also depend on the print resolution (DPI/PPI) and printer settings. A 600 × 600 pixel image does not automatically correspond to a valid passport photo for any country.
Does this tool make a passport photo compliant?
No. It only crops, resizes and exports the image. It does not validate facial proportions, background, expression, shadows, recency, print dimensions or government acceptance. Requirements vary by country, application type and issuing authority.
Can I reduce the file size in KB?
Yes, for JPG output you can set an optional maximum KB size. The tool adjusts JPEG quality without changing your selected output dimensions. If it cannot reach the limit, it reports that limitation. PNG has no adjustable JPEG quality setting.
U.S. visa digital photo
For U.S. visa applications that use the Department of State digital photo specification, try the U.S. Visa Photo Resizer with the 600 × 600 JPG and 240 KB preset. Always check your application instructions.
